For Roya, Zeeba uses video footage from her* first and at the same time very last trip back to Iran after she* had to leave the country in the 90s. Zeeba constructs a half-documentary, half-fictional narrative that reflects on the concepts of belonging and upheaval with longings, dreams and dissolved self-constructions in multiple voices. 

Roya ("Dream, Vision“ in farsi) is an Iranian dancer and the main narrator of the film. She describes herself as "partly a sample consisting of different layers" and gives an intimate speech to the audience. Roya questions the exoticizing gaze of western viewers. A mysterious snail that is connected to Roya opens up a story within the story by telling us about a roadtrip from Isfahan to Sari (Iran). Meanwhile Roya's lover, a fabulous alienesque being, lands on earth to build a lush, revolutionary garden of pleasure.

Für Roya benutzt Zeeba Videoaufnahmen aus ihrem* ersten und gleichzeitig allerletzten Trip zurück in den Iran, nachdem sie* das Land in den 90er Jahren verlassen musste. Zeeba konstruiert eine halb dokumentarisch, halb fiktionale Erzählung, die mit Sehnsüchten, Träumen und aufgelösten Selbstkonstruktionen mehrstimmig die Konzepte von Zugehörigkeit und Umwälzung reflektiert.  

Roya ("Traum, Vision"auf farsi) beschreibt sich selbst als "teilweise ein Muster, das aus verschiedenen Schichten besteht" und hält eine intime Ansprache an das Publikum. Sie hinterfragt den exotisierenden Blick des westlichen Zuschauers. Eine geheimnisvolle Schnecke, die mit Roya verbunden ist, eröffnet eine Geschichte innerhalb der Geschichte, in der sie uns von ihrem Roadtrip von Isfahan nach Sari (Iran) erzählt. Währenddessen landet Royas Liebhaberin, ein fabelhaftes außerirdisches Wesen, auf der Erde, um einen üppigen, revolutionären Garten der Freude zu errichten.
